Illumina vs. Affymetrix Arrays

Postby dpg791 » Jul 08 2014 6:40 pm

I'm just wondering what your thoughts are!
What kind of experiments have you done using either company's products?
Do you use custom, semi-custom, or their commercial chips?
How is their customer service and tech support?

Also, what's your opinion on the claim that MicroArray technology is dying or outdated and sequencing is better than MicroArrays?
I'd love to hear all of your thoughts!

i can't answer your first question, but...

next generation sequencing (ngs) can give you the entire genome of a sample for less money than microarray screening. i'm not so sure that ngs can replace gene expression with microarrays but, if you know which gene(s) to look at then qpcr will give you data for a lot less money.

genius does what it must
