alexa488 vs oregon green?

Postby greigite » May 24 2005 10:48 am

Anyone have experience with the two fluorescein analogs Alexa488 and/or Oregon Green 488? I need to order an in situ hybridization DNA probe labelled with one of these, but don't know which one is better. Oregon Green is significantly cheaper, but does it have good performance compared to Alexa488? I don't want to get fluorescein because of its low fluorescence and photostability.

i am not sure but what about calling the companies and asking for a test amount to make sure that each works well with your cells?
it cannot hurt to ask!
