You know, the solution to that is to date another science grad student. My boyfriend is very understanding of me being stuck in lab titrating virus/splitting cells/running ELISAs because he gets stuck in lab recording neurons/building Faraday cage/fixing broken electronics.
Reading about expression of genes "in Planta" makes me think they're doing it in margarine.

Yes, one of my graduate students actually said that. I did not make that up. I solemnly swear.
